Custom Kitchen Solutions (CKS) was founded by Phil and Marion Thomas back in 2001. They started by doing work for their family and friends who wanted to upgrade their existing kitchens. The Thomas' opened their first store front at in the Raliegh/Durham area. In 2003 Phil and Marison became Certified Kitchen Designers.

After 2 more years of growth and increased demand, they opened another store in Durham. It wasn't until 2010 they opened their third store in Cary.

Finally, in June 2014, they purchased 2 existing appliance stores in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Memphis, Tennesee.
